so yer.. the first time i went there i was very amazed. the only thing i was happy to do there was sk8ing in the sk8 park near the beach and make some new friends. cheers john. this is a cool american sk8er who i met there and who introduced me to his friends on that day. i remember we ended up by hanging out with some girls at the beach. bondi beach is not as beautiful as seychelles’ or mauritius’ beaches definitely but it is worth it to meet some new people and to sk8 lol.

Next time I'll try to see an opera?  — 2 years ago

A spectacular building, beautifully located. It was nice to stroll around, just being there, having a beer at the waterfront. One day I would like to actually see an opera there as well. Maybe next time.

I stayed in the Avillion hotel Avillion Hotel
some months ago during my trip to Sydney. What I liked very much was coffee in a local bar. Service is also not bad.

How this place changed my life  — 2 years ago

I saw my first drag queen here in the early 1990s. She was about six feet high and dressed fab, and waiting to cross the street with me in the middle of the day. I remember looking up at her and not being sure if she was… was she…? And she had fabulous clothes – very B-52esque, but I didn’t want to gape. I mean, I’d been to the Castro District twice but never seen anyone in full drag before. This was a couple of years before “Priscilla” and RuPaul put drag back on the map. And she kind of shimmied a little, and gave me a saucy look with half a smile. As if to say, “Yep, I am, and so what?”

And I thought, “Wow.” She had so much confidence and comfort with herself. She was more comfortable with her femininity and sexuality than I was, as a little 18 year old on her first trip overseas.

Long after I’d wrapped my head around the drag concept, I still remember her with some awe – she must have been one of the first people I ever saw who really exuded that kind of confidence and self-acceptance, “So what if I am?” A great lesson to learn.

So, wherever you are, in Paddington or not, THANKS!!

Don't book the sunset tour...  — 2 years ago

Just wait until about a week or so before you go. Then book an afternoon tour. The bookings will be pretty busy and they fill up the spaces in time order. When I went with my girlfriend we departed on the last afternoon tour, 5 minutes in front of the people who had paid twice the price to be on the top at sunset. Stunning and how does a particular credit card put it? PRICELESS!!
