I am not a geology scientist or anything but I kind of like volcanoes, that’s why I have some knowledge.
Volcanic eruptions are random and cannot be predicted other than the follow-up of earthquake pattern around the area. Everyday thousands of small earthquakes happen especially around volcanic regions which are also active fault lines. The pattern and the trend of these small earthquakes may foreshadow volcanic activity as they are proofs of fault activity. Sometimes volcanic eruption may come as a result of a single massive earthquake as well. Earthquake hence volcanic activity prediction methods vary but to my knowledge none of the methods are widely/globally accepted.
If you are after volcanic activity set-up your google alerts and wait. But don’t pray for it. :)
The photo is somewhat active remains of the last eruption at MT.Etna.
