Worth visiting!

I wasn’t aware of the Sziget festival when planning my trip. I just happened to be in Budapest on the last day of the 2007 edition. Of course, I couldn’t miss such an opportunity and went. For HUF 8000 (EUR 30 more or less), you get a day ticket that enables you to see whatever you want. There were a lot of very good acts all round, no way to get bored and the atmosphere was great: everybody was there to have fun and fun we had. The icing on the cake was the closing act by The Killers: what a show! EUR 30 to see The Killers live? Let alone all the other great groups? That’s a steal!

Sziget 2007 (08/08): Wish list 2007  — 2 years ago

The “wish list” of Sziget Festival just started to operate on the official homepage of the event. Since, it is a tendency that the festival has more and more international guests with season tickets, organizers are interested in the opinion of international festival visitors. They are expecting propositions from fans to see which international performers, bands they would like to see on Sziget festival’s 15th anniversary.

Worth visiting!

I was with my sister in Budapest the summer of ‘05 during part of the Sziget week, so we decided to go there for a day. Coincidentally, Sean Paul was there that day, and since we found him quite comical we were overjoyed. It actually turned out to be a great concert, and everyone in the audience was going crazy with the music, the heat and the beer :)

Worth visiting!

On our way back from budapest to cologne it seemed like half of germany had been there. we had about 27 different people in our old VW bus that came from budapest and needed a ride. The whole festival was like a european youth get-together. Very inspiring.

Worth visiting!

Since the 13 years it has came into my life only once I have missed it.
Remember the first one, back in 92 or 93. The last day was free (sunday) and of course we went with the boys to see Zappa. He has only been talking and we had to wait for him to play the next day at Taban.
Huh, that was a day!

Lots of fun  — 3 years ago

Worth visiting!

I went to the 1st Sziget festival- back when it was called ‘Deak Sziget’ (translated: student island). That 1st concert was amazing and included all of the 60’s & 70’s bands I thought I would never get a chance to see (e.g. Blood Sweat & Tears, Jethro Tull.)

The 2nd year the concert was labeled ‘Pepsi Sziget’, and the festival has been more commericalized ever since.

It is well worh going if you are nearby- the festival is a great way to meet & party with the locals. Hungarians are awesome people.
