How this place changed my life  — 7 months ago

    Worth visiting!

It is the most beautiful country with an incredibly inspiring view on life. I visited Bhutan when I was 15 and it has definately played a vital part in who I am today.

    PLACES TO GO:
Ura, the first village in Bhutan. A wealth of stories to tell.
    Tigers Nest. Awe-striking
    Bumthang valley, central Bhutan. Beautiful

    THINGS TO DO:
Get slightly lost in the wilderness
    Go to a religious festival
    Paro village markets

p.s. you’ll need at least a year to fully enjoy this magical country…

It’s a remote, mostly untouched part of the world surrounded by Buddhism. I think it would be amazing.

Always wanted to go there, never have been able to swing it on our trips to Southeast Asia or India. A friend of ours who works for Air Baltic got to live there for several months when Druk Air leased their planes. She loved it. Maybe someday we’ll get there.

When I was studying in Thailand, I went to school with a prince from Bhutan! Before this, I’d never even heard of the place. But after meeting Bhutanese peers and tasting their food, my interest definitely peaked. The representatives of their culture we had on campus were all lovely and generous people. I think it’d be a fun place to visit.

A review of this place  — 2 years ago

Bhutan was an unsoiled land in 2001. No cable television, and very little western influence. That seems to be changing, however, from what I hear it’s still a great place. I was in Bhutan for 2 weeks… great place. Go during October or festival season for some great experiences.
