I’m going to New York in Spring for a month to do as Baz Luhrmann suggests. I cannot wait!

So I guess the title is a grossly generalized statement considering I’ve seen merely 5% of the entire state, but that’s what New york seemed to me – simply alright. New York City is…New York City. It’s big, bustling, lively, crowded, scary, slightly smelly, and somehow beautiful. The Rochester area..eh. The Buffalo area…eh. Niagara Falls…eh (it’s MUCH better from the Canadian side!) Although my visits here, apart from NYC, were frankly boring (ok, it was winter – maybe that’s to blame), the pictures of the state look lovely and I will definitely travel here again.

I moved to NYC as soon as I turned 18 and spent 5 wonderful years there. I learned some hard lessons but wouldn’t change a day of the whole experience. If money was no object, I would consider moving back…or at least keeping a brownstone off Central Park :)

I was born in New Rochelle and I have a single memory of when I was two years old, sitting on my parents’ bed on a white comfortor in our NY apartment.
I was playing with pink plastic sunglasses and looking down at my brother, who was just born.
I remember not really understanding the little person and why he was there.
That is the only memory I have of living in NY.
