I grew up in Minnesota and went to college in Grand Forks for a while and quickly transfered schools. I’ve driven all over this state and after seeing it all, I wouldn’t recommend it. Why anyone would put this in their “43 places to visit” is beyond me.

Minneapolis
Worth visiting!
My friend here in Minneapolis is from Garrison. We went there a couple years ago for his reunion and the town centennial. We had a blast – very fun people there!! I like the canola fields too.

If you are looking for simple geographic beauty and some hearty food (think meat and potatoes), go to North Dakota. Step away from the hustle of every day life and be immersed in a culture all its own! The locals are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
I grew up on a farm in North Dakota and so have a biased affinity for this state. If you find yourself passing through, be sure to check out Medora, North Dakota—esp. the Medora Musical and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Todd Schoonover asks,
“If I were coming to North Dakota, what one thing should I make sure I see, or what one place should I eat at?”
