Nantes

I studied abroad in Nantes this summer. It was really a beautiful city. I loved everything about it and it was really upsetting to have to leave. I really consider it my second home and I can’t wait until I get to go back.

I have never been to France, but I love French culture. Nantes seems like an ideal place for a first visit to France. Its almost as if one could get an eye full of “Frenchness” without the hurried atmosphere of a busy city like Paris. I plan to go to Nantes next year in a study abroad program at my college. I’ll let everyone knows how it went as soon as I get back ^-.

New Years in France and visiting new friends.

I will be going to the Université de Nantes for a French language program next year! I am very excited, and I hear that “la vie nataise est très agréable!”

I was born in Nantes so…. just come it’s a cool town

My high school French class had exchange students from here and I’ve heard lovely things about Nantes. Everybody goes to France and visits Paris, but along with Paris, I’d like to get a little bit away from the ultimate tourist destinations and really experience this unique French town. Rumor has it that the people are a bit friendlier than in Paris and it is more affordable…but I’ll have to see for myself, hopefully soon. =)

I hope to visit Nantes because a good friend of mine lives here. She first came to our home as an exchange student and has come back to visit twice after that. We keep in contact with each other.

I would like to see where she lives and to meet her family as well.

I spent 3 weeks here on a high school language exchange. I thought it was a very pleasant, liveable city. We spent a lot of time doing activities as a group of students (a tour of the LU buscuit factory and the chateaux of the Loire were highlights!). Still, it was the first time I got to navigate my way alone around a foreign city. It was a good skill to learn as a teenager – it built up my confidence for future adventures in more exotic locales.

and I grew up a few kilometers away…I love this town, the Loire, the Jules verne museum, the cathedral, the castle…

Actually, that’s true. The Figaro (a very well known french news magazine) ran a test involving safety, comfort, urban transport, etc on all the large towns in France. Nantes came out first. Plus, I live there :-)
