A review of this place: Cool fortress  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

The fortress was interesting enough… strangely relaxed ticketing system and the whole world heritage thing was a bit weird… in that half the fortress walls had been restored at completely different times… so there’s a lotf of different colours and grades of the wall. Nice little trek though.

Where is Suwon?  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I’m living in Suwon at the moment, because of work. I’m originally from Sweden, but right now I call Suwon my home. I have been here 5 times before, for a total time of about a month.
I don’t know the city really well, but I think I might be able to answer some questions about it!

Suwon is close to the Yellow Sea  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

It takes 20 minutes to drive from southern Seoul to Suwon, which is on the Seoul subway line. From Suwon, it’s an easy 30-minute drive to areas on the Yellow Sea. To go to Chay-boo Island, on the Korean western seaboard, it will be about a 45 min. bus ride from Suwon train station (tides permitting!).
Also, the city of Suwon has invested great time and cash into the “restoration” of places-of-interest in Suwon. Kudos to them for transforming some run down areas into beautifully restored/added-to/created palaces and monuments.
Do beware: the locals drive dangerously!
    Have fun!
