Another day trip from when the family was staying in Ft. Lauderdale. We only went as far as Key Largo. I’d love to see Key West someday.

i didn’t know i was going… i lived in orlando for 3 years during that time my brother and sister-in-law came to visit we decided at the last minute to go on a road trip around florida. since i hadn’t toured the state i’d been living in for a 1 1/2 years i was pretty excited. well we went on the west coast of fl. and across the everglades then we decide to go to key largo. well- key largo really isn’t all that so we decided to keep on going. it kept get better and better and we started getting so excited. it was sooo beautiful the whole drive down. we stopped at beaches on the side of the road, we ate at restaurants looking out into the gulf. we didn’t really think we where going to go all the way down until we got half way there. then we where like hells yeah. so we stayed at a bed and breakfast. it was actually easter weekend. we rented scooters and it ended up being quite an memoriable trip.
then my girlfriends came a few months later and we went back.
i now live in new orleans, la and i have a trip planned for the end of may during memorial day weekend. with another group of friends. i can wait. love this place!!!

I was younger and went with the family, hit the beach, saw some of Florida’s history, and all that.
But want to go back this summer and hit up some fishing! Heard about some great charter boats, and stories from friends about fish they caught… so this is also a goal to hit up the keys this summer n fish!

Boy do I envy the locals by the florida keys. It’s a great place to visit, but it’s a pain to drive down through route 1. There are great restraunts on the Islamorhada key. I didn’t stay there, but my family and I drove down there 2 nights.

I have wanted to visit the Keys my whole life. I have no idea where the desire came from, I read alot so maybe it was from a book. Anyhoo, my husband’s mother and stepdad live in Islamorada which is about midway down. We went this March of ‘07. We went on the spur of the moment right after we quit our jobs on the spur of the moment. It has been a life course changing month for us both. We only had to pay for gas and any sightseeing we wanted to do. We had an awesome time! The weather was perfect, if windy, the whole time we were there. I am proud to check this one off my “do it someday list” that I have in my head and I reccommend visiting there to everyone. Key West was a little wild and we were only there during the day, must be crazy at night! Oh, well, we will do the night life next trip!

My family and I rented a house in Marathon Key for 2 weeks. It was amazing. The weather was beautiful every day. And as a result, we were on the beach or out on the boat everyday. It was 2 weeks of total bliss and relaxation. When we went to Key West, the entire city seemed happy and care-free. I can’t wait to go again.

dashatron asks,
“I want to spend my next summer in one of the keys, working and taking some classes. Any recommendations on the best key to stay at? What about schools? (I'm looking to take a photography class and a fashion drawing class, thanks!)”
