    I live here  — 1 year ago

I live in Lake of the Ozarks, in Sunrise Beach (in? I mean, outside it in the middle of the woods). I graduated from Camdenton High in May. Living here is okay, but once summer comes…well, it’s not so fun anymore.

I hate the damned tourists. Each and every one of you.

Summer was okay five years ago. Now it’s terrible.

The winter is my favorite time to be here. It’s quiet and beautiful and you will find much needed peace. The fresh air is wonderful, and going back to even a slightly crowded city will have your senses quelling from the pollution. The only complaint I have about living here, other than the tourists is that I live out of the way. From everything. It takes twenty minutes to get to Camdenton or Laurie where I live.

My favorite place in the entire world. No Joke!  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Growing up across the state from Lake of the Ozarks, my family went every year, usually twice a year, from the time I could remember up until I was about 18. I have stayed in probably every hotel in the area, eaten at every restaurant multiple times, and seen every show. I love going, and would go every year if I could get away with it.
    If you are in the area, there are things that are a must;
    1. EAT AT THE HAPPY FISHERMAN - the food is great, and you will never see anyplace like it.
    2. Shopping at the outlet mall takes most of the day, remember this and you will be much happier.
    3. If you like arcades and video games, you are now entering Heaven. You must visit Dogpatch, the Rebel Arcade, and Buster’s. All are great arcades and should not be missed. P.S. Unless you are children, or have children, stay clear of Miner Mike’s, which is attached to Buster’s. It’s all ticket games and rides for screaming children.
    4. If you want to stay at an all inclusive resort, I wholly recommend Tan-Tar-A. It has a water park, shopping mall, restaurants, and everything else you could ever want.
    5. Get out on the lake and have some fun.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

It’s a chill, cheap vacation with lots of tubing, skiing, and drinking. I’ve lived there working as a gas dock girl for the past couple years and its so relaxing! Party cove is also pretty entertaining if you ever get bored. There are also soooo many bars there now its ridiculous.

I believe the Lake is worth visiting. It can be a very good time for anyone, whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or a party crowd. I think the lake is slowly turning into more of a party than a family attraction. Personally I’d like for it to lean more towards the “quiet getaway.” Either way, should be a good time no matter what you want.

I’ve been to the Ozarks many, many times. Whether you have a boat or not, there are many things to do. My family spent 2 days at the lake and didn’t get in the water once. The kids loved going to Pirates Cove for a round of miniature golf. They had a blast riding go carts with dad. And they even allowed mom to do some shopping at the outlet mall. We spent one day exploring around Ha Ha Tonka State Park. And we still didn’t see everything there was to see. Make sure you wear good walking shoes, take a cooler of water , and have a camera.

My home away from home  — 3 years ago

It’s is my get away when I only have a weekend! It is getting crowded…. You really just have to know about the local spots. It is nice that all the wild people will go to “party cove” so it keeps all the jerks in one place for the day which is nice.
