Unfortunate Experience -- but still great!  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I went to Italy for two weeks last year and one of the best and worst experiences was visiting Capri and seeing the blue grotto. On the ferri ride over everyone got sea sick, including me who’s usually pretty good about such things. It turns out I was just starting to get bronchitus at that time which is probably what did it. Even though I felt awful when we reached Capri, I decided to take the boat ride around the island anyway. The water there is BEAUTIFUL. If you’re from someplace like New Jersey, like myself, the clearness and pure blue color of the water will astound you. We ended up having to turn around due to rough waves, but I got some of my best pictures during that short amount of time. Definitely worth visiting!!!!

U must see the blue grotto....  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

Amazing experience, especially laying in the bottom of the row boat to get into the grotto. Once inside it’s amazing! It just glows the most amazing shade of blue, and the men singing in Italian makes it even better!

A review of this place: The big cave with the little entrance  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I thought it would be another tourist trap, but I enjoyed this visit very much. My wife had to drag me there. The cave has a little entrance and can only be entered when the tide is right. You sit in a little boat, 2 visitors and one oarsman, and wait for a wave. As soon as the wave lowers the water level, you shoot through the cave entrance.

Inside, it is a different world. The light that comes from outside is reflected all over the place. It is humid and cool, and there is this azure glow in the water. And then the singing starts, like in the movies: how corny! :o)

Worth visiting, BUT it's hit or miss.  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

When I went to the Blue Grotto on the isle of Capri in 2000, I hiked about an hour to get to it, and when i got there it was closed because the sea was too rough or something, and water kept covering the hole that the rowboat goes thru to take you inside. I was so disappointed. Maybe now there’s a way to call ahead or check on the internet. BEWARE of this!
