This is a beautiful hotel with a rich history. They say there are even ghosts here. The dining room has a buffet with the most amazing food on it every weekend.

The Del has outdoor ice skating during the month of December!
It’s really uncanny to be ice skating in sunny San Diego – you’re under the warm sun and can see the ocean, sand and beachgoers while you’re taking part in this typically cold-weather winter tradition!
You don’t have to be staying at the Del to go skating, and they have skates for rent on site. A three-hour skating session will cost you about $20.00.

Great atmosphere. Take a walk on the beach, climb some of those rocky outcrops and listen to the crashing waves. Its therapeutic!

I was in San Diego for Comic Con & after the last day really wanted to go to Coronado. Since we missed the transit times, we ended up walking down Orange from the ferry to Hotel Del Coronado. Unfortunately practically everything was closed. I would love to go back early in the day to see everything.

I love the Del, don’t get me wrong. It’s a worthy landmark and a deserved one for the town. But definitely don’t limit yourself to the Del if you stay in Coronado. There’s plenty of things to investigate just right outside your door if you walk up Ocean Avenue, whether to enjoy the beach or to explore the sidestreets—and often amazing houses—near there. But there’s also Glorietta Bay, Spreckels Park…all sorts of locales scattered throughout the town. So use the Del as a homebase, but not the sole reason to go.

A business colleague of mine suddenly felt discomfort to the point where she wanted to leave the premises… she felt a “presence” was it a famous ghost of the Hotel Del Coronado?
We didn’t find out till later that near these stairs to the beach it is indeed rumoured that you can feel the anguish of lost hope from a beautiful woman who had given up on life and now, in death, still watches new visitors to the hotel

I just went a few weeks ago—I was wearing shorts and a tank top days before christmas!! The entire island is beautiful and the Hotel Del has good service, beds from heaven, and an overall awesome vacation feel.
