So I am downtown San Diego with a friend and we see a lot of odd looking people, then realize it is Comic-Con! For the firs time ever I decided to visit the show, and this is where it gets really fun. I walk up to the registration booth and when I tell them my first and last name, they ask for my ID, and then explain I am VIP and entry is free etc..etc..
Someone who means something in the comic world must have the same name as me, once inside it was fun, but maybe just because I felt so special.

I went to Comic-Con for the second time this past July and had the time of my life. There’s so many things to see and lots of free stuff. My favorite section with the Small Press because artists were their with their comics. I bought a couple and got them all singed too! Oh but if your going to stay in a hotel make sure to get reservations right away. Also buy tickets in advance when it’s cheaper. Make sure to buy them online of else you’ll be standing in line for an hour or so to buy one in the morning.

My wife and I went this past year, and it was really good. I was not as impressed by the schedule as I was in the previous years, but we did hit some awesome panels. David Boreanaz at the Bones Panel, Battlestar Galactica, Boondocks and Veronica Mars fandom were all in the mix. It was a great time for everyone. If you’re not a fan of TV and Movie panels, go for a day and take in all the people.
The only downside was that the amount of people made cell phones completely unusable, and thus we had a hard time when our group split.

Comic Con was crowded, but it was definitely worth visiting! There was so many booths/vendors from up and coming brands to well known companies. The San Diego Comic Con is every fanatic of comics, action, science fiction, video games, animation, etc.’s dream!!!
Comic Con has changed a lot. Back in the 1980s it was very much a COMIC con, lots of artists and people to meet. (I remember being awed as a 12 year old when I got to meet the guy who drew Hero Sandwich.) Still the case now, but when the bottom dropped out of the comics market at the beginning of the 1990s (thereabouts), they broadened it – more video games, computers, TV shows and so on. Not necessarily the best environment for young kids, especially if Kevin Smith’s giving the keynote speech. A lot of adult-oriented stuff and costumes, so if you’re a parent, you may have to do a lot of navigating – the con doesn’t exactly cater to parents the way WorldCon might. Lots of fond memories, seeing Chris Claremont talk about the X-Men, meeting Trina Robbins…
Everyone who likes comic books, speculative fiction, computers, action movies, animation, and/or anime should go to this at least once in their lives!

“Any really good hotel recommendations? I normally stay at a cabin in a nearby camp ground and I am looking for a change of pace.”
