Le Marais

On our last afternoon in Paris, we wandered around the Marais by coincidence, we were walking from Pompidou to Place des Vosges. Nice shops, some were even open on that slightly rainy Sunday, I bought macarons, guimauves and earrings as souvenirs, while the locals were forming crowds around the falafel places. We opted for crêpes instead (with Nutella, how can you resist). Relaxed atmosphere, not very touristy.

Its streets are perfect for wandering around, it has lots of little gardens and squares, some great museums and even better cafes and restuarants. A few particular recommendations:

• Rue des Rosiers for food
• Place des Vosges
• Musee Picasso
• Musee Carnavalet

le marais is one of my most favorite places on earth. i feel alive, beautiful and content just being there- in the parks, walking the streets, having a drink here or there or wherever. i wish i lived there- one day. it’s a dream but for now, the memories sustain me and propel me forward to visit and hopefully hang my hat there one day.
