farnsworth house  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

everything from the view of the fox river to the hinges used on on the front doors is worth examining. Hard to imagine that this house was once used by a family, but for a single person or a couple, it’s ideal.

Not worth it!

the school district is terrible.

wal-mart swallowed this small village and barfed up a lot of low-paying jobs (however, i do admit that wal-mart did provide a service that was needed. prior to wal-mart the tiny downtown was defunct. there were limited resources in the area.)

currently, there is an explosion of housing developments attempting to convert this place into a suburb of chicago (a suburb 58 miles, or 1.5-2+ hours away from chicago). buyer beware. predatory lending practices abound, already with TONS of foreclosures.

they did recently get a new library. wow.

Plano is where the Farnsworth House is located. Plano is located near the Fox River, Aurora, Naperville, and Northern Illinois University. When I was there earlier this month, I noticed large housing developments. I imagine these homes are for people that commute to Chicago.
