A tip I have about this place  — 5 hours ago

    Worth visiting!

La Jolla is beautiful, so if the ritzy nature of the place is keeping you away, don’t let it. I went sea kayaking through a tour group in the area. We did not get as close to the caves/cliffs as I would have liked due to the waves, but the view is spectacular. It is also loads of fun, the best part being when you kayak surf right as you are returning to the beach. Kayak surfing is such a blast I will do it again next time I go to San Diego.

    Worth visiting!

When I was in San Diego a couple of weeks ago I called Fred, one of my dear old friends. He came and met me downtown and we cruised around the city together and just talked.

He asked me if I had ever been to La Jolla Cove. I couldn’t remember ever visiting.

He took me to it. It was interesting to see the seals lying on the beach. There was a young woman standing sitting near the stairs, trying to tell us that we shouldn’t go onto the beach as it disturbs the critters. Fred told me to ignore her. She wasn’t any kind of ranger, just some busybody who thought that people shouldn’t go onto the beach.

We walked around. We kept our distance. We didn’t want to disturb them. They were interesting to see, but the stench was pretty strong.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

It’s fun to climb around in those little caves there. The water is dark and cold, so I don’t know why people go snorkeling here. But it is definitely fun to walk and climb there.

    Worth visiting!

It’s breathtakingly gorgeous! We took our children last summer (they were 5 and 18 months at the time). Children’s was really neat, the seals were out and it’s such a clean area. The surrounding town of La Jolla is so quaint. We loved it there and it felt so relaxing.
Parking is a little difficult if not unmanageable on the weekends in the summertime. It you get a chance to go in the spring or fall it’s much less crowded then.

So goddamn beautiful.  — 2 years ago

This is on the shores of La Jolla. It is really beautiful here. On part of it there’s this section of beach you aren’t allowed to go on for some of the year. The reason is because bunches of seals come and plop right on the beach and you can watch them being all cute and stuff! Woo-hoo! They’re so adorable. The park[s] in front of the cove are pretty scenic too. They have some really awesome trees. Gah! Go here if you can, ASAP. You sincerely won’t regret or forget it.
