Seven Mile Bridge

The view is amazing. Unfortunately, on the way back to the mainland, I was in a convertible with the top down and got stuck riding behind a semi that was belching thick black smoke for seven miles… with no passing lanes.

Nothing but bridge both ahead of and behind you. The water is so crystal clear, and sometimes there are water-winds, water likes tornadoes. Really awesome!

The craziest thing about the road to Key West, which the Seven-Mile Bridge is part of, was that when it was built, the builders intended to take it all the way to Havana!

True? I can’t imagine it is. 90 miles is a lot of water to cross. But that’s the story I was told when I was in the Keys.

It’s scary!
