A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Not worth it!

The last time I visited this resort I found the loggers staying there far more interesting than the owners. The thing I hate most about these little lodges, and Bed and Breakfasts for that matter, is how the owners always want to bore you with their stories and history.
Excuse me, I’m on vacation – and I AM PAYING YOU - so shut up and go fix the dinner your charging me an arm and a leg for.
And to the old german man who “rules” this resort – you’ra an ass…and we didn’t come there to listen to you bitch and moan about how you do it all yourself while the whole world screws you over.
We now skip this place and head to Blind Channel.

Not worth it!

Don’t go…instead stick to places like Blind Channel or, if its open, Shoal Bay.
The owners of this rat hole are two of the most rude a$$h0l*s you will ever meet.
Ones drunk all the time and the other hides behind dirty dishes.
No water, no electric, no fun.
I’ve been told they are great to those who know them but I find that hard to believe.
Avoid like the plague.

Smell of fecal matter and burning carpets  — 1 year ago

Prior to resigning our positions at Cordero Lodge we took stock of the dream that had become a nightmare.
The beautiful and serene location we had come to love was, in reality, nothing of the sort.

20 some years the owners buried trash on Lorte Island, dumped weighted trash in Cordero Channel, burned trash (including carpets, plastic tubing, and oil containers) on the beaches.

How could people live in such a locale and treat it with such disrespect?
We will never know, except that perhaps they are so self absorbed that they can no longer see the forest for the trees.

I’ll never forget standing on the barge in front of the restaurant and watching as one of the guests morning bowel movements crawled out from under the lodge with the tide like a cockroach scurring out after dark. It was a truly horrific slap in the face by some truly horrific owners.

I also recall all the time spent Prawning with the owner, Reinhardt Kuppers. “We need 1,000 more prawns” he said.
“Why” i asked.
“For the restaurant” was the answer.

Seems the owners save on overhead by catching thier own seafood, and covering the tracks by purchasing meager ammounts of the same from a local crabber/prawner.

Oh the humanity of it all!

Are we bitter former employees? Perhaps.
But more than anything else, the manner in which the owners maintained thier own properties and treated the environment and the neighboring lodges with such disrespect is not something we will ever be able to reconcile ourselves with.

We are grateful to have removed ourselves from the premises and the impending liabilities thier behaviour is sure to reap.

Recommendation: Cordero Lodge Dining  — 1 year ago

Ideally situated between the Dent and Greene Point Rapids along British Columbias Inside Passage, Cordero Lodge provides authentic german dining at its floating restaurant. Reservations are definately required as Dores and Reinhart Kuppers have established quite a reputation for thier meals and hospitality.
Lodging is also available, as is fishing and wildlife adventure.
Mountain Bikers might also enjoy the endless abandoned logging roads as well.
The wife and I loved it so much we pleaded for jobs.
